Getting There

• Car

  If you are traveling by car within Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, head towards the main road that leads to the Buhoma area. From Buhoma, look for signs directing you to the MINEERA HOT SPRING. The hot spring is located approximately 15 kilometers from Buhoma. It is best to take a local guide or use a GPS-enabled device for accurate navigation, as the area can be quite remote and the roads may be unpaved. Ensure your vehicle is suitable for off-road driving, as the last stretch may require a more rugged vehicle. Parking is usually available near the hot spring.

• Public Transportation

  To reach MINEERA HOT SPRING using public transportation, first, take a bus or shared taxi to Buhoma from major towns like Kabale or Kisoro. Once in Buhoma, you can either hire a motorcycle taxi (boda-boda) or arrange for a local guide who can take you to the hot spring. The cost for the boda-boda ride is typically around 10,000 to 15,000 UGX (Ugandan Shillings) depending on negotiation and distance. Ensure to confirm the return trip with the boda-boda driver, as public transport options may be limited in the evening.

• Walking

  For those who are adventurous, walking from Buhoma to MINEERA HOT SPRING is an option. The trek is approximately 15 kilometers and takes about 4 to 5 hours, depending on your pace. Follow the well-marked trails leading out of Buhoma, but be sure to carry enough water and snacks, as the journey can be strenuous. It is highly recommended to hire a local guide for this trek to ensure safety and to learn about the local flora and fauna along the way.
