Car
If you're traveling by car, start on the main road towards Mbarara. Depending on your starting point in the Eastern Region, you may need to navigate towards the Masaka-Mbarara road. Once you reach Mbarara town, follow the directions to the city center. Look for signs directing you to Omugabe Palace, which is located in the vicinity of the town center. There should be parking available nearby, but be prepared for a small fee, typically around 2,000 UGX.
Public Transportation
If you prefer to use public transportation, take a bus or a matatu from your location in the Eastern Region to Mbarara. Buses are available from major towns such as Jinja or Mbale. Once you arrive in Mbarara, disembark at the main bus terminal. From there, you can either take a taxi or walk to Omugabe Palace, which is approximately a 15-minute walk from the terminal. Taxi fares within Mbarara are usually around 5,000 to 10,000 UGX depending on the distance.
Walking
For those who enjoy walking, if you’re already in the Mbarara town area, you can easily reach Omugabe Palace on foot. Start from the main bus terminal and head towards the center of town. Keep an eye out for local signage directing you to the palace, and enjoy the local scenery along the way. It should take roughly 15-20 minutes to reach your destination.
