Getting There

• Car

  If you are driving from any part of the Eastern Region, you will want to head towards Kampala. Use the Jinja-Kampala Highway (A-109) which is the main road connecting the Eastern Region to the capital. Once you reach Kampala, follow the signs to Old Kampala Road. The Uganda National Mosque is located on Old Kampala Road. Look out for the mosque's distinct architecture as you approach. Parking is available nearby, but be prepared for a small fee, typically around 2000 - 5000 UGX depending on the area.

• Public Transportation - Matatu

  To use public transportation, find a matatu (shared taxi) that is heading towards Kampala from your location in the Eastern Region. Matatus are usually available at designated taxi parks or along major roads. Once you arrive in Kampala, you can either take another matatu to Old Kampala Road or use a boda-boda (motorcycle taxi) for a quicker ride. The fare for the matatu from the Eastern Region to Kampala will vary but expect to pay around 5000 - 15000 UGX. The boda-boda fare to the mosque from where the matatu drops you off will typically be around 2000 - 5000 UGX.

• Public Transportation - Bus

  If you prefer traveling by bus, there are several bus companies that operate routes from various towns in the Eastern Region to Kampala. Board a bus heading to Kampala, which you can find at local bus terminals. Once in Kampala, you can take a taxi or a boda-boda to Old Kampala Road. Bus fares can range from 15000 - 30000 UGX depending on the bus company and class of service. For the taxi or boda-boda, expect to pay an additional 2000 - 5000 UGX.
