Getting There

  • Car

    If you're driving from Elgon to Lake Mburo National Park, start by heading southwest on the Bujagali-Kasese Road (A109). Continue on this road until you reach the junction at Masaka. Take the exit towards Masaka (A104). After about 50 km, look for signs pointing to Lake Mburo National Park. The park entrance is well-marked and located approximately 10 km off the main road. Ensure you have enough fuel as there are few gas stations along the route.

  • Public Transportation

    To reach Lake Mburo National Park from Elgon using public transport, first make your way to the nearest bus station in Mbale. Here, take a bus heading to Masaka. The journey can take around 4-5 hours, depending on traffic and road conditions. Once you arrive in Masaka, you can hire a boda-boda (motorcycle taxi) or a taxi to take you to the park entrance, which is about 30 km away. The cost for the boda-boda is usually around 20,000 to 30,000 UGX. Make sure to negotiate the fare in advance.
