Car
If you are traveling by car from Bugitimwa, start by heading northeast on the main road (A109). Continue straight until you reach the junction at Mbale. Take the turnoff to the right onto the Mbale - Suam Road (Bubulo Road) and follow the signs for Mount Elgon National Park. The park entrance is approximately 30 kilometers from the junction. Be prepared for some rough patches along the road, so a 4WD vehicle is recommended. There is an entry fee of around UGX 30,000 per person, which you will need to pay at the park entrance.

Public Transportation
To reach Mount Elgon National Park by public transport, take a matatu from Bugitimwa to Mbale. Matatus leave frequently from central locations and cost around UGX 2,500 per person. Once you arrive in Mbale, you will need to take another matatu heading towards Suam. Confirm with the driver that they will drop you off at the park entrance. The cost for this leg is about UGX 10,000 per person. It may require some waiting time for the matatu to fill up. After being dropped off, you will have to walk approximately 5 kilometers to the park entrance.
