Getting There

Car
From Elgon, head southwest towards Mbale. Drive along the A7 highway for approximately 40 kilometers until you reach the junction near Bushenyi. Turn right onto the Rukungiri road (A104) and continue for about 160 kilometers. You will pass through towns like Ntungamo and Rukungiri. Follow the signs towards Queen Elizabeth National Park. The park entrance is well marked, and you will need to pay an entrance fee at the gate, which is approximately $40 per person.

Public Transportation
To use public transportation, first take a taxi or a boda-boda (motorcycle taxi) from Elgon to the nearest bus station in Mbale. From there, board a bus heading to Kasese, which is approximately a 5-6 hour journey. Once you arrive in Kasese, you can take a local taxi or arrange for a boda-boda to take you to the Queen Elizabeth National Park entrance, which is about 25 kilometers away. Be prepared to pay for the entrance fee to the park, which is approximately $40 per person.

Private Shuttle Service
For a more comfortable option, consider booking a private shuttle service from Elgon to Queen Elizabeth National Park. This can be arranged through local tour companies. The journey will take about 4-5 hours depending on traffic and road conditions. The cost for a private shuttle can range from $150 to $250 depending on the company and the number of passengers, and the entrance fee of approximately $40 per person will still apply at the park gate.
