Getting There

  • Car

    If you are traveling by car from Jinja town center, head northeast on Main Street towards the roundabout. At the roundabout, take the second exit onto the Jinja-Kampala Highway (A-109). Continue for about 5 kilometers, then turn left onto Kamuli Road. Follow this road for approximately 2 kilometers until you reach a junction. At the junction, take a right turn and continue straight for about 1 kilometer. The Busoga Royal Palace will be on your left. Look for the entrance marked by signs.

  • Public Transportation (Matatu)

    To reach Busoga Royal Palace using public transport, you can catch a matatu (shared taxi) from Jinja town. Head to the matatu stage near the main market and look for a matatu heading towards Kamuli or one that is marked for the Busoga region. The fare is generally around 1,000-2,000 UGX (Ugandan Shillings). Inform the conductor that you are going to the Busoga Royal Palace. Get off at the Kamuli Road junction, and from there, it’s about a 10-minute walk south along Kamuli Road. You will see the palace on your left.

    For the adventurous, renting a bicycle in Jinja is a great way to explore. Start from the Jinja main square and head northeast on Main Street. Follow the same route as cars, taking the Jinja-Kampala Highway (A-109). After approximately 5 kilometers, turn left onto Kamuli Road. Continue cycling for about 2 kilometers, then take a right at the junction and follow the road until you reach the Busoga Royal Palace on your left. Ensure you are wearing a helmet and are cautious of traffic.
