Car
If you are driving from the town of Kabale, head east on the Kabale-Kisoro road (also known as the Rukungiri-Kabale road). Continue for about 20 kilometers until you reach the town of Kabaale. There, take a left turn onto the Kabaale-Lake Wamala road. Follow this road for about 15 kilometers, and you will see signs guiding you to Lake Wamala. The road may be a bit rough, so proceed with caution, especially during the rainy season.
Public Transport (Matatu)
From Kabale, locate the Matatu (shared taxi) park. Look for Matatus heading towards Kisoro or Rukungiri. Inform the driver that you want to get off at Kabaale, which is approximately 20 kilometers away. The fare should be around 3,000 UGX. Once you reach Kabaale, hire a motorcycle taxi (boda boda) to take you to Lake Wamala. The ride will cost about 5,000 UGX and take around 20 minutes.
Motorcycle Taxi (Boda Boda)
If you prefer a direct route, you can hire a boda boda from Kabale directly to Lake Wamala. Just ask around for a boda boda at the taxi park or any nearby location. The fare for this trip will be approximately 15,000 UGX, and it should take about 30 minutes to reach the lake, depending on traffic and road conditions.
