If you are driving from Gulu, take the Gulu-Kampala Road (A-1) south towards Kampala. Follow this road for approximately 330 km. As you approach Kampala, look for signs directing you to Speke Road. Once you reach Speke Road, turn right, and continue for about 500 meters. The Independence Monument will be on your left. Parking may be available nearby; be sure to check for any parking fees.
Public Transport (Bus)
To reach Kampala from Gulu using public transport, head to the Gulu Bus Terminal and board a bus heading to Kampala. The journey takes approximately 6-8 hours, so plan accordingly. Once you arrive at the Kampala Bus Terminal, you can take a taxi or a boda-boda (motorcycle taxi) to Speke Road. Inform the driver you wish to go to the Independence Monument. The taxi ride should take around 15-20 minutes, depending on traffic, and may cost between 20,000 to 30,000 UGX.
