    If you are driving from Fort Portal, head northwest on the A109 highway. Continue on this road for about 9 kilometers. Look for a sign indicating Nyakasura, which will lead you to a smaller road on your left. Take this left turn and follow the road for approximately 2 kilometers. Keep an eye out for signage towards Amabere Caves. The caves are well-marked and should be visible on your right once you approach the entrance area, which is also where you will find parking.

  • Public Transportation

    To reach Amabere Caves using public transportation, first make your way to the Fort Portal taxi park. From there, catch a taxi that is heading towards Nyakasura or the nearby villages. The fare should be around 1,000 to 2,000 UGX per person, depending on your negotiation skills. Inform the driver of your destination, Amabere Caves. Once you arrive at Nyakasura, you may need to walk about 1 kilometer towards the caves along a dirt path. Be sure to ask locals for directions if needed, as they will be familiar with the area.

  • Bicycle

    For the more adventurous travelers, renting a bicycle in Fort Portal is a great way to reach Amabere Caves. Head out on the A109 highway towards Nyakasura. The distance is roughly 11 kilometers, so be prepared for a moderate ride. Once you reach the sign for Nyakasura, take the smaller road on your left and continue for 2 kilometers. The caves will be on your right. Make sure to wear a helmet and stay hydrated during your ride!
