  • Car

If you're traveling by car, start from Fort Portal, which is a popular base for exploring the Western Region. Head east on the Fort Portal - Kamwenge Road (A109) for about 25 kilometers. At the junction, take the left turn onto the Kamwenge - Ibanda Road (B434). Continue on this road for 30 kilometers until you reach the town of Kamwenge. From Kamwenge, follow the signs to the Rwenzori region, taking the Kyegegwa Road. After approximately 15 kilometers, you'll see a sign for Aruu Falls. Turn onto the Unnamed Road (VJWX+GFX) and drive for about 5 kilometers until you reach the falls. Ensure your vehicle is suitable for rural roads as the last stretch can be uneven.

  • Public Transportation

For those using public transportation, start at Fort Portal. Take a matatu (shared taxi) heading towards Kamwenge. The fare is usually around 5,000 UGX and the journey takes about 30-40 minutes, depending on traffic. Once you reach Kamwenge, you will need to hire a boda-boda (motorcycle taxi) or a local taxi to take you to Aruu Falls. The boda-boda fare should be approximately 10,000 UGX for the 15-kilometer trip. Make sure to agree on the price before starting your journey. Inform the driver that your destination is Aruu Falls, and they will know the route.

  • Walking

If you're already close to Aruu Falls and prefer to walk, you can start from the nearest village. From the village center, ask locals for directions to Aruu Falls, as many of them are familiar with the route. It’s advisable to have a local guide or at least a companion, as the paths can be challenging. The walk can take about 1-2 hours, depending on your pace and the exact starting point.
