Car
If you are driving from any location in Western Region, the best route to Gorilla Guardians in Ruhengeri, Rwanda is via the Rwandan border. Start by heading towards Kisoro town. From Kisoro, cross the Cyanika border post into Rwanda. Once in Rwanda, continue on the road towards Ruhengeri. The destination is located at HGCP+4HP in Ruhengeri. Ensure you have your passport and any necessary travel documents ready for border crossing, and be prepared for a small fee if required.
Public Transportation
To reach Gorilla Guardians using public transport, first take a taxi or a bus from your location in Western Region to Kisoro. From Kisoro, look for a shared minibus (commonly referred to as 'matatus') heading to Ruhengeri. These can be found near the main taxi park. The journey might take around 1.5 to 2 hours depending on traffic. Once you arrive in Ruhengeri, use local motorcycle taxis (known as 'motos') to reach the exact location at HGCP+4HP. Make sure to negotiate the fare beforehand, typically around 1,000 Rwandan Francs.
