Parkstone originated as a tything and chapelry within the parish of Canford Magna before becoming a separate civil parish in 1866. It was merged into Poole in 1905. Historically, much of Parkstone was agricultural land until the early 20th century, evolving into a residential suburb with a mix of housing styles.
