    From the city center of Durham, head to the nearest bus stop, which is located on North Road. Look for the bus services heading towards Darlington. You can take the Arriva bus number X1 or X2. The journey will take approximately 30-40 minutes. Get off at the Staindrop stop. From there, Raby Castle is about a 20-minute walk. Exit the bus and head south on the main road (A688) towards Staindrop. Follow the signs to Raby Castle, which will be on your left.

  • Train and Bus

    Start at Durham Train Station and take a train towards Darlington. The journey takes about 15 minutes. Once you arrive at Darlington Station, exit and find the bus stop for Arriva buses. You can catch the bus number X1 or X2 toward Staindrop. The bus ride will take approximately 20-30 minutes. Alight at the Staindrop stop, and from there, Raby Castle is about a 20-minute walk. Head south on the main road (A688) towards Staindrop, following the signs to Raby Castle on your left.

  • Walking and Cycling

    For the more adventurous, you can cycle or walk to Raby Castle. If walking, it is approximately a 7-mile trek. You can follow the path from Durham along the A167 and then head towards Staindrop.
