From Durham city centre, make your way to the Durham Bus Station located on Mill Road. You can ask for directions to get there if you are unsure. Once at the bus station, catch the Arriva North East bus number 20 towards Sunderland. The bus ride will take approximately 30 minutes. Get off at the stop called 'Sunderland Interchange'. After disembarking, walk towards Fawcett Street, which is a short distance from the interchange. Turn left onto Fawcett Street, and The Athenaeum will be on your right at number 27.

To reach The Athenaeum from Durham, head to the Durham Bus Station on Mill Road. Take the Arriva North East bus number 20 that is heading towards Sunderland. After about 30 minutes, you will arrive at Sunderland Interchange. From there, exit the interchange and walk towards Fawcett Street. Turn left, and The Athenaeum will be located at 27 Fawcett St, just a short walk down the street on your right.
