Restoration and Sustainable Future

After decades of decline and varied uses, the castle was purchased in 2018 by the Gwrych Castle Preservation Trust. The Trust is dedicated to restoring the castle sustainably while maintaining its historic character. Restoration work is ongoing, with some areas temporarily inaccessible for safety. The Trust also manages the adjacent Tan-yr-Ogo Lodge, offering unique self-contained accommodations that allow visitors to experience the castle’s ambiance overnight.

The castle is accessible via a short walk from Abergele town or by car, with ample parking available. While there is a small café selling drinks and snacks, visitors are encouraged to bring picnics to enjoy in the peaceful grounds. Facilities include restrooms, information boards, and seating areas scattered throughout the site. Comfortable footwear is recommended due to uneven terrain and extensive grounds.
