Sygun Copper Mine traces its origins back to the 18th century, with copper mining in the area possibly dating to Roman times. By 1836, the mine's output was valued at £2,800, and between 1839 and 1862, thousands of tonnes of ore were extracted under the ownership of Henry McKeller. The Elmore brothers, owners in the late 19th century, pioneered a flotation process in 1898 that enhanced copper extraction efficiency. Open daily from February to November, with reduced hours and weekend openings in winter, the mine welcomes visitors year-round.
