Best part of my London trip

Jaimie’s tour was the best part of my time in London. He’s intelligent and well versed in many aspects of London’s culture and history. Unlike the dozens of Jack the Ripper tours, Jaimie takes you through a tour of great storytelling of events both new and some familiar. Enthusiastic and emphatic about every piece of history he showcases, he is also empathetic towards the nature of the deaths of real people. Not salacious for the sake of shock, but genuinely aware and respectful. In a party of all women, Jaimie was mindful of being a man with a group of women, and opted to stay on more populated streets and made sure to check in to make sure we were comfortable where we were standing or if a particular street was ok to trek down before doing so. And we all stopped in for a bathroom break at a cute pub along the way, so no worries on holding your bladder for dear life. 10/10, I hope to go on another one of Jaimie’s tours should I find myself in London again and I highly recommend to anyone looking for a memorable way to uncover London’s long, colorful history. My only complaint is that Jaimie’s not in the States. I would love to hear his take on my hometown! This guy would make a wonderful teacher; he is so engaging and left me wanting to learn more.

The Changing World of Spying

We had a fun session with Rory as he shared stories about the history of spying and deception and the protection of state secrets. We learned more about the history of the espionage agencies in the UK and key players who raised the alarm or who were supporting foreign interests. Learning about MI5 and MI6 key moments in protecting this country’s security and how this led to the need to respond, review and make changes showed how dynamic and realistic these agencies really are. As we walked about and saw key places and statues, we appreciated how interconnected these agencies and the government really are. The attitude of giving one’s life for one’s country is from another time and yet these were the stories of spies we appreciated and that touched us. We enjoyed our time together very much! Thank you!
