Getting There

• Car

  If you are traveling by car, head towards Bakewell on the A619. Once in Bakewell, follow the signs for A619 towards Chatsworth. Continue on A619 for approximately 3 miles. You will see a sign for Birchen Edge on your left, where there is a small car park available. The car park is free, but be aware that it can fill up quickly on weekends.

  To reach Birchen Edge via public transport, start by taking a train to Matlock Station. From Matlock, you can catch the 6.1 bus towards Bakewell. Get off at the Bakewell bus station. From there, you may need to walk approximately 1.5 miles towards A619, where you'll find a bus stop that services the route to Chatsworth. Alternatively, you can consider a taxi from Bakewell to Birchen Edge, which is about a 10-minute drive. Taxi costs can vary, so it’s advisable to check local rates.

• Walking

  If you are already in the vicinity and prefer to walk, you can hike to Birchen Edge from nearby locations. From the Bakewell town center, head northwest on the A619. Follow the footpath signs towards Birchen Edge, which will take you through scenic countryside. The walk is approximately 2 miles and can take about 40 minutes, depending on your pace. Ensure you wear appropriate footwear as the path may be uneven.
