If you're driving, head to the A82 road. From Paisley, take the A726 and merge onto the A82 towards Dumbarton. Follow the signs for Dumbarton and take the exit towards the A814. Continue on the A814 until you reach Castle Road. Turn right onto Castle Road, and Dumbarton Castle will be on your left. There is parking available near the castle.

To reach Dumbarton Castle by public transport, take a train from Paisley Gilmour Street to Dumbarton Central Station. Trains run regularly, and the journey takes about 30 minutes. Once you arrive at Dumbarton Central, exit the station and head east on Station Road. Continue straight until you reach the roundabout, then take the first exit onto the A814 (Bridge Street). Follow this road until you see the signs for Castle Road. Turn left onto Castle Road, and the castle will be on your left. The total walking distance from the station is about 1 mile.
