Three Lochs Forest Drive winds its way through the heart of Queen Elizabeth Forest Park, a jewel within Scotland’s Loch Lomond & The Trossachs National Park. This 7-mile (11.3 km) gravel road offers a peaceful, immersive experience through lush woodlands and rolling hills. The route is named for the three lochs it skirts—Lochan Reòidhte, Loch Drunkie, and Loch Achray—each presenting unique waterside vistas framed by ancient trees and vibrant wildlife.

As you traverse the drive, expect to see a variety of woodland creatures, including red squirrels darting among the branches and the occasional deer grazing quietly. Outside these hours, walking and cycling are permitted year-round. Entry for vehicles requires a modest £3 fee, payable by cash or card at the entrance barrier, which helps maintain the route and its facilities. Along the drive, you’ll find picnic areas, toilets, and parking spots where you can pause to enjoy the surroundings.

Established in 1977 to commemorate Queen Elizabeth II’s Silver Jubilee, the Three Lochs Forest Drive offers not only natural beauty but also a connection to Scotland’s heritage. Nearby, the ruins of the former Tigh Mor hotel and the quaint Trossachs Kirk parish church add historical interest. The surrounding landscape also invites exploration of Ben A’an, a popular hill with panoramic views over the lochs and beyond.

The route is suitable for most vehicles, including campervans, though larger motorhomes should exercise caution on narrower sections.
