Nestled on the shores of Badcall Bay near Scourie, Eddrachilles Hotel occupies a beautifully preserved former manse dating back to the 18th century. The building’s original stone walls and flagstone floors lend a timeless character, while its location within the North West Highlands Geopark offers breathtaking views across sea lochs to the mountains of Assynt. The hotel’s three-acre private grounds extend down to the water’s edge, providing a tranquil and scenic environment that perfectly complements the rugged Highland landscape.

Since 2016, owners Fiona and Richard Trevor have infused the hotel with a genuine Highland spirit of hospitality. Guests are welcomed with complimentary tea, coffee, and homemade cakes each afternoon, alongside practical touches such as free maps, binoculars, and snack boxes for exploring the surrounding wilderness. The atmosphere throughout is relaxed and friendly, with a sun lounge offering panoramic sea views regardless of the weather, and cosy public rooms featuring wood-burning stoves to create a snug retreat.

Eddrachilles offers ten cosy guest rooms, each with ensuite bath or shower facilities and decorated in heritage colours with quality furnishings. Six rooms boast stunning sea views, while four overlook the peaceful courtyard garden. Bedrooms are designed for comfort rather than grandeur, with high-quality linens, Highland Soap toiletries, blackout curtains, and modern conveniences such as TVs and panel heaters. Four ground-floor rooms provide step-free access, making the hotel partially suitable for visitors with limited mobility.

The hotel’s restaurant, The Glebe Kitchen, is celebrated for its refined yet relaxed dining experience showcasing fresh, locally sourced Scottish ingredients. The daily-changing Table d’Hôte menu features dishes such as salmon from nearby Loch Duart, seabass, rib-eye steak, and vegetarian and vegan options. Breakfast is a highlight, offering a cold buffet alongside cooked-to-order favourites like smoked salmon with scrambled eggs and the hearty Highland grill. The bar boasts an impressive selection of over 70 malt whiskies, Scottish artisan gins, and local beers.

Eddrachilles is ideally situated for exploring the wild landscapes of North-West Sutherland. Nearby attractions include Handa Island, a Scottish Wildlife Trust reserve known for seabird watching, and stunning beaches such as Sandwood Bay.
