Caludon Castle Park is centered around the remnants of Caludon Castle, a medieval fortified manor house with origins dating back to the late 12th century. The castle was transformed into a crenellated fortress in the early 14th century under John de Segrave, who was granted permission by King Edward I to fortify the building with battlements, a moat, and walls. Although the castle fell into ruin after damage sustained during the English Civil War in the 17th century, a significant fragment of the sandstone banqueting hall wall still stands, offering visitors a tangible link to Coventry’s feudal past.
