Brew York’s flagship venue on Walmgate is the birthplace of this celebrated craft brewery. Here, visitors can get up close and personal with the brewing vessels that produce the brewery’s signature beers. The site remains an active brewery, combining traditional brewing techniques with innovative craft beer styles, making it a hub for beer enthusiasts eager to explore the brewing process firsthand.

Downstairs, the taproom welcomes guests with exposed brick walls and vibrant murals that create a funky, urban vibe. The taproom features six cask hand pulls alongside ten keg taps, pouring a diverse selection of Brew York’s fresh beers, from classic staples to limited-edition releases. The adjoining gift shop offers a variety of branded merchandise and the latest canned beers, perfect for taking a piece of Brew York home.

At the front of the building lies the Brewer’s Yard, an inviting outdoor space ideal for sunny days. To the rear, visitors discover York’s hidden gem—a covered riverside beer garden that offers a tranquil setting by the water. This sheltered garden space enhances the venue’s appeal, providing a relaxing spot to enjoy craft beers in a scenic environment.

Upstairs, the Bavarian-style Beer Hall is a standout feature, boasting 40 beer taps—the largest selection of beers, lagers, and ciders in York and the surrounding region. The open kitchen serves up bold, Asian-inspired street food from YUZU Street Food, complementing the extensive drink menu. The Beer Hall also hosts weekly events such as quizzes, adding to its lively and social atmosphere.

Brew York is dog-friendly and welcomes under-18s accompanied by adults until 8pm, with baby changing facilities and breastfeeding support available. While there is no dedicated parking, the venue is accessible by car for drop-offs and is a 20-minute walk from York’s main train station. The venue also offers private hire rooms for events, catering to groups and celebrations.

Open from midday to 11pm Monday through Saturday and until 10pm on Sundays, Brew York provides ample opportunity to explore its offerings. The taproom and beer hall may have slightly different opening times due to brewery operations.
