If you are starting from York Minster, head south towards the city center. Go down Minster Yard and turn left onto Ogleforth. Continue straight until you reach the junction with Duncombe Place, then turn right. Walk down Duncombe Place until you reach the intersection with St. Leonard's Place. Turn left onto St. Leonard's Place and walk towards the main shopping area. When you reach the traffic lights, cross over to the other side of the road and continue straight onto Davygate.
