Getting There

Walking
If you are starting from York Minster, exit the Minster grounds and head down Minster Yard towards the main street, Deangate. Turn left onto Deangate and continue straight until you reach St. Leonard’s Place. From there, turn right onto Duncombe Place. Follow the road as it becomes Museum Street. Keep walking until you reach the end of Museum Street, where it intersects with Tower Street. Turn left onto Tower Street, and the York Castle Museum will be on your right, just a short walk away.

Bus
If you are near the York Railway Station, you can take the number 6 or 12 bus towards Acomb. Board the bus at the station and travel for two stops. Get off at the stop called 'Tower Street'. From there, walk along Tower Street towards the river, and the York Castle Museum will be on your left.

Bicycle
If you have a bicycle, start at the city center and head towards the Ouse Bridge. Cross the bridge and follow the path along the riverbank. Continue straight until you see the entrance to the York Castle Museum on your right as you approach Tower Street. There are bike racks available for you to secure your bicycle.

You can easily find a taxi in the city center. Ask the driver to take you to Tower Street, York Castle Museum. The ride should take about 5 minutes depending on traffic. Just mention that the museum is located near the river and the historic site of York Castle.
