If you're driving, the Holgate Windmill is located at Windmill Rise, Holgate, York YO26 4TX. From the A64, take the exit towards York, and follow signs for the city center. Continue straight onto the A1036, and then take a left onto Holgate Road. Follow Holgate Road until you reach the roundabout, and take the second exit onto Windmill Rise. The windmill will be on your left. There is limited parking nearby, so plan to arrive early to secure a spot.

To reach Holgate Windmill via public transport, begin by taking a train to York Station. Once you arrive at York Station, exit onto Station Road and head towards the bus stop. Take the Arriva bus number 4 or 5 towards Acomb. Get off at the Holgate Road stop. From there, it's a short walk to Windmill Rise. Head down Holgate Road, then take a left onto Windmill Rise, and you'll find the windmill at the end of the street. The bus fare is approximately £2.50 for a single journey.

If you're staying in York, you can also walk to Holgate Windmill. Starting from the city center, make your way to the A1036 (Holgate Road) and follow it west. It's a pleasant walk of about 30 minutes, taking you through scenic areas of York. Once on Holgate Road, turn left onto Windmill Rise and follow the road to the windmill.
