Car
If you are traveling by car, start by heading southeast on Ruta Nacional 9 (RN9) from the nearest city in the Central Region. Continue on RN9 until you reach the intersection with Ruta Nacional 15 (RN15). Take a left onto RN15 and follow the signs toward the Rocha Department. Continue on RN15 for approximately 30 kilometers until you reach the town of Lascano. From Lascano, follow local signs toward Embalse de la India Muerta. You will need to take a few smaller roads, so it’s advisable to use GPS to navigate the final stretches through rural areas.
Public Transportation
If you prefer public transportation, you can take a bus from the nearest major city, such as Durazno or Tacuarembó, that heads toward Rocha. Look for buses that stop in Lascano. Upon arriving in Lascano, you will need to hire a taxi or use a local rideshare service to reach Embalse de la India Muerta, as public transport options may be limited in this area. Make sure to check the bus schedules in advance, as they may not run frequently, especially on weekends.
