Car
If you are traveling by car, start by heading southeast on Route 9. If you are coming from a city like Durazno, take Route 5 to Route 9 and head towards Rocha. Continue on Route 9 for approximately 130 km until you reach the town of La Paloma. From there, follow the signs towards the coast and take Route 15. After about 10 km, you will find the entrance to Fuerte San Miguel on your right. Parking is available near the site.
Public Transportation
To reach Fuerte San Miguel using public transportation, take a bus from Montevideo to La Paloma. The bus service is frequent and takes around 4-5 hours, costing approximately 600-800 UYU. Once you arrive in La Paloma, you can take a local taxi or ride-sharing service to reach Fuerte San Miguel, which is about 10 km away. Expect to pay around 300-400 UYU for the taxi ride.
