If you're traveling by car, start from the center of Melo (the capital of Cerro Largo). Head south on Avenida 19 de Abril towards Calle Gral. José Artigas. Continue straight for about 1.5 kilometers until you reach the intersection with Calle Dr. Luis Alberto de Herrera. Turn left onto Calle Dr. Luis Alberto de Herrera and drive for approximately 1 kilometer. You will see the Cárcel De Cerro Largo on your right. There is usually available parking along the street.
