Car
From the center of Sierras de Carapé, head southeast on Ruta 9 towards Ruta 39. Continue on Ruta 9 for approximately 8 kilometers. You will see signs for Sierra Carapé. Turn left onto a smaller road leading into the hills. Drive for about 2 kilometers, and you will arrive at the main entrance to Sierra Carapé. Parking is available at the site.
Public Transportation
Start at the main bus terminal in Sierras de Carapé. Take a bus heading towards Maldonado. Inform the driver that you want to get off at the turn-off for Sierra Carapé (approximately 30 minutes into the journey). Once you disembark, walk along the dirt road for about 20 minutes until you reach the entrance of Sierra Carapé. Be sure to check the bus schedule in advance, as services may be limited.
Bicycle
If you prefer cycling, rent a bike from one of the local shops in Sierras de Carapé. Head southeast on Ruta 9, following the same route as cars. After about 8 kilometers, turn left onto the small road leading into Sierra Carapé. The total biking distance is roughly 10 kilometers. Remember to bring water and sun protection as there are limited stops along the way.
Hiking
For the more adventurous, you can hike to Sierra Carapé from Sierras de Carapé. Start by taking the pathway leading southeast from the village. Follow the trail that leads toward Ruta 9. This hike is approximately 6 kilometers and will take about 1.5 to 2 hours. Make sure to wear sturdy shoes and bring sufficient water.
