Getting There

• Car

  If you're driving to Buck Canyon Overlook from Moab, UT, start by heading west on US-191 N. Continue for about 20 miles until you reach the entrance to Canyonlands National Park. Pay the entrance fee, which is currently $30 for a vehicle, valid for 7 days. Once inside the park, follow the signs to Island in the Sky, which is approximately 12 miles from the entrance. When you reach the Island in the Sky Visitor Center, you will see signs for Buck Canyon Overlook. Continue on the scenic drive for about 5 miles until you reach the Buck Canyon Overlook parking area. Park your car and walk to the overlook for stunning views.

• Public Transportation

  For those relying on public transportation, you can take the Moab Express shuttle service from Moab to Canyonlands National Park. The round-trip fare is approximately $35. The shuttle typically departs from Moab in the morning and returns in the afternoon. Request to be dropped off at the Island in the Sky Visitor Center. From there, you can either walk or use a bike rental service available at the visitor center to reach Buck Canyon Overlook, which is about 5 miles away along the scenic drive. Ensure to check the shuttle schedule in advance to plan your trip accordingly.

• Hiking

  If you're already within Canyonlands National Park and prefer to hike, you can combine a hike with short drives or biking. From the Island in the Sky Visitor Center, take the paved road towards Buck Canyon Overlook. The distance from the visitor center to the overlook is roughly 5 miles, which is a pleasant hike. Be sure to bring plenty of water, wear sturdy shoes, and check the weather conditions before heading out.
