If you are driving, start from the Island in the Sky Visitor Center in Canyonlands National Park. Head south on the Island in the Sky Road, then take the exit for UT-191 S. Continue south on UT-191 for about 31 miles until you reach the junction with US-163. Turn left onto US-163 S and follow it for approximately 14 miles. You will notice Mexican Hat Rock as you approach the town of Mexican Hat. Look for the rock formation on your right, and you can park in the nearby area to view it up close.

Public transportation options are limited in this remote area. However, you can take a Greyhound bus to Bluff, Utah, which is about 25 miles from Mexican Hat. From Bluff, you will need to arrange for a taxi or rideshare service to get to Mexican Hat Rock. If you are already in the town of Mexican Hat and wish to reach Mexican Hat Rock on foot, it's a short walk approximately 1 mile from the center of town.
