    Getting There

    Car

    From the Capitol Reef National Park Visitor Center, head south on Hwy 24 for approximately 10 miles. Turn right onto the road that heads toward the town of Torrey. Continue on this road until you reach the junction with Hwy 12 near the town of Boulder. Turn left onto Hwy 12, and continue for about 30 miles until you reach the town of Escalante. From Escalante, follow the directions below for accessing Zebra Slot.

    Car to Trailhead

    From Escalante, head east on Main Street, which will turn into UT-12. After about 3 miles, look for the unmarked road on your left (it’s a dirt road). This road leads to the Zebra Slot trailhead. Follow this dirt road for about 6 miles; it may require a high-clearance vehicle depending on current road conditions. Park your car at the trailhead.

    Hiking

    Once parked, begin your hike by following the well-worn path into the canyon. The hike to Zebra Slot is approximately 1 mile and will take you through stunning scenery. Make sure to carry enough water and snacks, as this is a remote area. The slot canyon itself is narrow, so be prepared for some tight squeezes and beautiful views.
