Walking
From the center of Escalante, head east on UT-12 for about 1 mile. You will come to a large parking area for the scenic spots. The Cosmic Ashtray is located just a short walk from the parking area. Look for the marked trail leading towards the viewpoint. Follow the signs for approximately 0.3 miles until you reach the Cosmic Ashtray, a unique geological feature offering stunning views of the surrounding landscape.

If you are biking, start from the Escalante Visitor Center located on Main Street. Head east on UT-12, which is a well-maintained road. Continue for about 1 mile, then look for the parking area on your right. Secure your bike at the bike rack available near the trailhead. From there, follow the marked trail to the Cosmic Ashtray, which is about 0.3 miles away. Enjoy the ride and the beautiful scenery along the way!
