Car
If you're driving, the Great Basin Visitor Center is located at 100 Great Basin, Baker, NV 89311. From Baker, head south on NV-487. After about 1.5 miles, turn left onto Great Basin National Park Road (NV-488). Continue on this road for about 5 miles until you reach the visitor center. Look for signs as you approach; the visitor center will be on your right.
Public Transportation
Public transportation options are limited in this rural area. The nearest major bus service is in Ely, NV, about 60 miles from the visitor center. If you're arriving in Ely, you would need to rent a car or arrange for a taxi or rideshare service to travel to Baker and the Great Basin Visitor Center. Please check local transportation services for availability and costs.
Bicycle
For the adventurous, biking to the Great Basin Visitor Center is an option. From Baker, take NV-487 south until you reach Great Basin National Park Road (NV-488). The ride is approximately 6.5 miles and offers scenic views, but be prepared for limited shoulder space on the road and ensure you have hydration and safety gear. Please check the weather before you go.
Walking
Walking to the Great Basin Visitor Center is not recommended due to the distance and lack of pedestrian pathways. If you are staying in Baker and wish to explore, consider walking around the town, but plan to use a car or bike for the trip to the visitor center.
