Getting There

  • Car

    If you are driving, start from the Zion Canyon Visitor Center. Head east on Zion Canyon Scenic Drive. Note that this road is often closed to private vehicles during the busy season, so you may need to take the shuttle bus instead. If driving, continue on the Scenic Drive for about 3 miles until you reach the Grotto Picnic Area. Park your car here in the designated parking area.

  • Shuttle Bus

    If you are using the shuttle service, board the shuttle at the Zion Canyon Visitor Center. The shuttles run frequently, and your destination is the Grotto stop. Once you arrive at the Grotto, disembark and follow the signs for the Angels Landing Trailhead.

  • Hike

    From the Grotto Picnic Area, you will find the Angels Landing Trailhead. The hike to Scout Lookout is approximately 2.5 miles one way. The trail is steep and has a series of switchbacks known as Walter's Wiggles. Follow the trail markers as you ascend, and be cautious of your surroundings.
