Public Transportation - Bus
From Downtown Provo, locate the nearest bus stop for the Utah Valley Express (UVE) bus service. The closest stop is typically near the Provo City Library or the Provo Town Center. Board the bus heading towards the 'Provo Canyon' route. The fare is approximately $2.50 for a one-way trip. Stay on the bus until you reach the stop at 'Provo Canyon', which is approximately a 30-minute ride. Once you disembark, you can follow the signs to access various trails and attractions within Provo Canyon.
Bicycle Rental
If you prefer a more active mode of transportation, consider renting a bicycle from one of the local shops in Downtown Provo. Popular rental spots include Provo Bicycle Company or the Bike Barn. After securing your bike, head east on Center Street towards 500 East and follow the bike lanes to connect to the Provo River Trail. This scenic trail will lead you directly to Provo Canyon. The ride is roughly 6 miles and should take around 30-45 minutes, depending on your pace.
Walking / Hiking
For the adventurous, it's possible to walk or hike to Provo Canyon from Downtown Provo. Start at the Provo City Library and head east on 100 North. Continue walking until you reach the Provo River Trail. Follow the trail that runs alongside the river; it is well-marked and offers beautiful views. This route is about 6 miles and will take approximately 1.5 to 2 hours to reach the entrance of Provo Canyon. Make sure to wear comfortable shoes and bring water, as the hike can be strenuous.
