    If you're starting from the Capitol Reef National Park Visitor Center, head east on Highway 24. Continue for about 6 miles until you reach the junction with the road leading to the Grand Wash area. Turn left onto the unpaved road (Grand Wash Road) and continue for approximately 2 miles. You will then reach a parking area where you can leave your car. From here, you will need to hike approximately 1.5 miles on the Behunin Cabin Trail. Follow the trail markers, which will lead you through the stunning desert landscape. The trail can be rocky and uneven, so make sure to wear sturdy hiking shoes.

  • Public Transportation + Hiking

    If you're relying on public transportation, your best option is to take a shuttle service from Torrey to Capitol Reef National Park. Once you reach the park, use the same directions as if you were driving. The shuttle may drop you off at the Visitor Center, where you can then rent a bike or secure a shuttle to the Grand Wash area. From the parking area, hike approximately 1.5 miles along the Behunin Cabin Trail to reach the cabin.
