Car
If you are driving, start from Nukus, the capital of Karakalpakstan. Head south on the A380 highway, which connects the major cities in the region. Continue on the A380 for about 50 kilometers until you reach the exit for Mangit. Take the exit and follow the signs to Mangit. Once in Mangit, navigate towards the coordinates 42.1423385, 59.9719006, which will lead you to Karta. The road will be fairly straightforward, but be cautious of local traffic and road conditions.
Public Transportation
For those using public transport, head to the main bus station in Nukus. Look for buses heading towards Mangit; these are likely to be local minibuses (marshrutkas) or larger buses. The journey to Mangit takes approximately 1-1.5 hours, depending on traffic. Once you arrive in Mangit, you can either take a taxi or walk towards Karta, which is around 7 kilometers from the bus station. Make sure to confirm the fare with the taxi driver before starting your journey.
Taxi
If you prefer a more direct route, you can hire a taxi from Nukus to Karta. This option is more expensive, with fares ranging from 50,000 to 80,000 UZS (approximately $5-8), depending on your negotiation skills and the taxi service. Provide the driver with the coordinates 42.1423385, 59.9719006, or the address '4XRC+RG, Mangit'. The drive should take about 45 minutes to an hour, depending on traffic.
Use Karta as your starting point for nearby food, family ideas, nightlife, and more local discoveries.
