Car
If you are driving, start from the city of Urgench, which is the main administrative center of the Khorezm Region. Head southeast on the M37 highway for approximately 45 kilometers. Look for signs that direct you towards the Republic of Karakalpakstan. After about 45 kilometers, you will see a turnoff for a smaller road heading toward the coordinates 42.010843, 61.027184. Follow this road for about 10 kilometers until you reach Ayoz qalʼa. There are no tolls on this route.

Public Transportation
To reach Ayoz qalʼa by public transportation, start by taking a bus or shared taxi from Urgench to the town of Beruniy. Buses frequently leave from the central bus station in Urgench, and the journey takes about 30 minutes (costing around 5,000 UZS). Once in Beruniy, you can hire a local taxi to take you directly to Ayoz qalʼa for approximately 20,000-30,000 UZS, depending on negotiation. The taxi ride will take about 20-30 minutes.

Walking from a Drop-off Point
If you choose to take public transportation to Beruniy and then a taxi, you might get dropped off nearby the site. From the drop-off point, Ayoz qalʼa is about a 2-kilometer walk. Follow the dirt road heading northeast, and you should see the fortress in the distance. Make sure to wear comfortable shoes, as the terrain may be uneven.
