Car
If you have a rental car, start from the main town of Loh, located on the island of Vanua Lava. Head south on the main road towards the village of Sola. Continue on this road for approximately 30 kilometers, keeping an eye out for signs directing you to Mount Gharat. The last stretch will be a gravel road; drive carefully as it may be uneven. Upon reaching the foot of Mount Gharat, you will find a small parking area where you can leave your vehicle.
Public Transportation
To reach Mount Gharat using public transportation, take a local bus or taxi from Loh to Sola. Buses may run less frequently, so it is advisable to check the schedule in advance. Once you arrive in Sola, you will need to hire a local guide or a taxi to take you to Mount Gharat. The guide will know the best route and will be able to assist you in navigating the final part of your journey.
Walking
For those who enjoy hiking, after reaching the parking area at the base of Mount Gharat, you can embark on a hike to the summit. The hike is steep and can take about 1-2 hours depending on your fitness level. Ensure you wear appropriate footwear and bring enough water. There may be no formal trails, so be prepared for a rugged terrain.
