Walking
Exit the Sistine Chapel through the main entrance and proceed straight ahead into the Vatican Museums. Follow the signs that guide you towards the exit, which will lead you to the Vatican Gardens. Once you reach the end of the gardens, you will find yourself at the entrance of St. Peter's Basilica. Continue walking towards St. Peter's Square. From there, take the Via della Conciliazione, a wide avenue leading out of the Vatican. After about 10 minutes of walking, you will reach the Tiber River. Cross the river using the Ponte Sant'Angelo bridge. After crossing, turn left onto Lungotevere Castello. Follow this road until you reach the intersection with Via dei Fori Imperiali. Turn right onto Via dei Fori Imperiali, and after about a 5-minute walk, you will arrive at the Basilica Julia located in the Roman Forum.
Public Transport
From the Sistine Chapel, exit into the Vatican Museums and head towards the entrance where you can find the bus stops. Look for the bus station that services line 81. Board the bus heading towards 'Piazza Venezia.' After about 10 minutes, get off at the 'Piazza Venezia' stop. From there, walk towards Via dei Fori Imperiali, which is a short 5-minute walk. Continue straight until you reach the Basilica Julia, which will be on your left side within the Roman Forum area.
