From Vatican Necropolis, exit the site and head towards the entrance of the Vatican Museums. Once you reach the main entrance of the Vatican Museums, turn left and walk along the outer wall until you reach the intersection with Viale Vaticano. Cross the street and continue walking straight until you reach the end of Viale Vaticano. You will see the large gates of St. Peter's Square ahead. Enter St. Peter's Square and enjoy the breathtaking view of St. Peter's Basilica. From here, head towards the main exit of the square, leading you onto Via della Conciliazione.

If you are starting from a different point within Vatican City, such as St. Peter's Basilica, walk out of the basilica and enter St. Peter's Square. Walk towards the exit that leads to Via della Conciliazione. Once on Via della Conciliazione, turn left and follow the road until you reach the intersection with Corso Vittorio Emanuele II. Cross the street and continue straight until you reach Piazza Mattei. Look for the beautiful fountain in the center, which is the highlight of Piazza Mattei.

Take bus number 40 towards Stazione Termini. Get off at the stop named 'Piazza Venezia.' From there, it is a short 10-minute walk to Piazza Mattei. Head south on Via del Corso, then turn left onto Via dei Pilastri, and continue until you reach Piazza Mattei.
