Car
If you're traveling by car, start from the center of Lincoln, VT. Head northeast on VT-116 N for about 6 miles. Then, turn left onto the Lincoln Gap Road (a gravel road). Continue on Lincoln Gap Road for approximately 3 miles until you reach the Mt. Abraham trailhead parking area on your left. Please note that parking may be limited, especially on weekends, so arrive early.
Public Transportation
Public transportation options are limited in this rural area. You can take a bus from Burlington to Middlebury via the Green Mountain Transit route. From Middlebury, you may need to arrange a taxi or rideshare service to get to Lincoln, as there is no direct public transport to the Mt. Abraham trailhead. Once in Lincoln, follow the car directions above to reach the trailhead.
Hiking
Once you arrive at the Mt. Abraham trailhead, prepare for a hiking experience. The trail to the summit is about 2.2 miles long and can be strenuous. Make sure to wear appropriate hiking gear, bring plenty of water, and allow for 2 to 3 hours to complete the hike. The views from the summit are worth the effort!
