Discover more about Long Trail Brewing Company
History and Heritage
Founded in 1989 by Andy Pherson in the basement of the Bridgewater Woolen Mill, Long Trail Brewing Company pioneered Vermont's craft beer scene. Originally Mountain Brewers, it relocated in 1995 to its current riverside site in Bridgewater Corners. Named after the iconic 273-mile Long Trail hiking path through the Green Mountains, the brewery has become a regional icon, producing Vermont's top-selling craft beer, Long Trail Ale, a malty German-style Altbier.
Brewing Excellence
The campus features state-of-the-art brewing operations, a farmhouse pilot brewery for experimental small-batch beers like Limbo IPA and Brown Bag Series releases, and sustainable practices. Spent grains and hops feed local dairy cattle, while steam recycling saves energy and water. Beers distribute across New England and beyond, with 45% consumed in Vermont. Year-round staples join seasonals like hefeweizen and Blackbeary Wheat.
Riverside Brew Pub Experience
The on-site pub offers a seasonally rotating menu of American brewpub classics using local ingredients, paired with over a dozen fresh taps. Indoor dining, outdoor deck seating overlooking the river, and toes-in-the-water spots create a relaxed vibe. Open daily from noon, with extended weekend hours, it's ideal for lunch, dinner, or drinks.
Events and Community
A hub for live music, private events, and gatherings, the venue hosts concerts and celebrations in its picturesque setting. Wheelchair accessible with free parking, it welcomes families, groups, and beer enthusiasts. Commitment to community shines through sponsorships like charity bike rides.
Green Mountains Gateway
Perfectly positioned on US Route 4, it's a must-stop for road trippers exploring Vermont's outdoors, near hiking trails, Quechee Gorge, and ski resorts. The blend of craft beer, riverside serenity, and hearty food captures the essence of Vermont hospitality.
