    If you are traveling by car from Stowe Mountain Resort, start by heading south on Mountain Road (VT-108 S) towards Stowe Village. After approximately 3 miles, turn left onto Sterling Gorge Road. Continue on Sterling Gorge Road for about 1 mile, and you will find the Sterling Forest Trailhead on your left at 91 Sterling Gorge Rd. There is no parking fee at the trailhead, but be sure to follow any local parking regulations.

  • Public Transportation

    For those using public transportation, take the local Stowe Mountain Shuttle, which runs seasonally. Board the shuttle at designated stops around Stowe Mountain Resort. Inform the driver that you want to go to the Sterling Forest Trailhead. The shuttle will drop you off at or near the entrance to Sterling Gorge Road, from where you can walk about 0.5 miles to reach the trailhead. Check the shuttle schedule for the latest departure times, as they may vary.

    If you are already in the Stowe area and prefer walking, you can start from the village center. Walk south on Main Street until you reach Mountain Road (VT-108 S). Follow Mountain Road for about 3 miles until you reach Sterling Gorge Road. Turn left onto Sterling Gorge Road and walk approximately 1 mile to the trailhead. Be prepared for some roadside walking, as sidewalks may not be available along this route.
