From the town of Morrisville, VT, head south on VT-100 S. Continue for about 18 miles until you reach the intersection with US-7 S. Turn right onto US-7 S and follow for approximately 10 miles. Take the exit toward VT-73 E, and merge onto VT-73 E. After about 5 miles, turn right onto Mt Independence Rd. Continue straight for about 2 miles, and you will reach Mount Independence at 472 Mt Independence Rd, Orwell, VT 05760. Parking is available on-site.
Public Transportation
Take the Green Mountain Transit bus from Morrisville to Middlebury. The bus will drop you at the Middlebury station. From there, you will need to take a taxi or rideshare service (such as Uber or Lyft) to reach Mount Independence, as public transit does not directly service the site. The taxi ride will cost approximately $20-30 and take about 20-25 minutes.
Biking
If you're feeling adventurous, you can bike to Mount Independence from nearby towns. From Middlebury, head south on US-7 S. After about 2 miles, turn onto VT-73 E and continue until you reach Mt Independence Rd. The total biking distance is approximately 10 miles and can take about 1-2 hours, depending on your pace. Make sure to wear a helmet and be cautious of traffic, especially on US-7.
