Public Transit
From downtown Montpelier, walk to the Montpelier Transit Center located at 60 State St. Once there, take the Green Mountain Transit bus heading towards Stowe. Make sure to check the bus schedule for the specific departure times. After approximately 30 minutes, get off at the Cambridge Village stop. From there, it's about a 2-mile walk to Smugglers Notch. Head north on Vermont Route 108, enjoying the scenic views along the way. Follow the road until you reach Smugglers Notch.
Bicycle
If you're up for a bike ride, rent a bicycle from a local shop in Montpelier. Start your journey by heading north on Main St, which will lead you out of the city. Continue onto Vermont Route 12, and then take a left onto Vermont Route 108. This route will take you directly to Smugglers Notch. Be aware that this route includes some hilly sections, so be prepared for a workout!
Walking
If you enjoy hiking and are looking for an adventure, you can walk to Smugglers Notch. Start from the State House in Montpelier and head north towards Main St. Continue on Main St until you reach the intersection with Vermont Route 12. Take a right onto Route 12 and follow it for about 4 miles. The road becomes Vermont Route 108, which will lead you to Smugglers Notch. This walk is roughly 5-6 miles and will take you through some beautiful Vermont scenery. Make sure to wear comfortable shoes and bring water!
