To reach Willoughby State Forest by car from anywhere in Orleans County, start by finding your way to VT-5. If you're in Newport, head south on Main Street, which becomes VT-5. Continue south on VT-5 until you reach the junction with VT-111. Turn left onto VT-111 and drive for about 6 miles. After passing through the town of Derby, continue straight until you reach the intersection with VT-58. Turn right onto VT-58 and follow it for approximately 10 miles until you reach the town of Sutton. Look for the Willoughby State Forest signs and turn left onto Forest Road. Continue until you reach the parking area for the park.
Public Transportation
Public transportation options to Willoughby State Forest are limited, but you can take a bus to Newport, VT. From Newport, you may need to arrange for a taxi or rideshare service to reach the forest. Contact local taxi services ahead of time to ensure availability, as rides may not be frequent. The closest bus stop is in Newport, where you can catch Greyhound or other local services. Once in Newport, confirm the fare to Sutton with your taxi service.
